Footsteps Walking Tour: Stop #26

A self-guided heritage walk around the campus of St Patrick's College for Girls Campbelltown

Mary Sheil Centre

The Mary Sheil Centre (MSC), named in honour of the first benefactress (Mary Sheil allocated land in 1840 on which to build St. Patrick's School), opened in 1990.

The vision for a College Auditorium began in 1986 with the start of an auditorium fund levy of $10.00 per student per term. The MSC blessing mass was held before construction was completed, such was the enthusiasm of the College community to gather in the new building.

Several highlights of note in the Mary Sheil Centre include a stained glass College logo - a gift from Year 12 2009, "Dominus Lux Mea" - a reminder of our historic roots and College Honour Boards. The Father Michael Healy Altar (circa 1890's) donated by Father Michael Healy PP to the College in 2015 is used for special College masses held in the MSC. It is protected in storage at all other times.
