St John's Preparatory College "Westview" 1922
St John's Preparatory College "Westview" extension 1956
The Benedict Performing Arts Centre (named on St. Patrick’s Day 1992) was built in 1922 as the newest addition to the campus of St. John’s Preparatory College ”Westview”, a boarding school for boys aged 5-12 years, conducted by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan OSB.
The building, designed by Australian architect Austin McKay, was constructed in front of weatherboard cottages that were the original and first boarding school/convent buildings on this site. The closure of St. John’s Preparatory College “Westview” allowed St. Patrick’s College to relocate to this site in 1970.
