Footsteps Walking Tour: Stop #34

A self-guided heritage walk around the campus of St Patrick's College for Girls Campbelltown

Scar Tree

Scar Trees are very important to Aboriginal people as they indicate the spiritual connection to their land and culture. The bark removed from our Scar Tree has been used to create a Coolamon, which carries food, or if large enough, is lined with possum skins and carries babies. When the scar starts to heal we will be carving into it our message, using symbols, which will signify our connection to this land we learn and work on.
