Benefits of Organisation

What are the benefits of being organised?

Being organised is a great way to help alleviate the stresses that can occur when navigating school and home life.  For some students, being organised comes naturally...for others, it takes a little more effort. It's really important to remember that ANYONE can be organised – it’s a skill you can learn and practice daily, and it's a recipe for success at school...and for life!

Organise Your Life!

Set the Stage for Success!

A - Every now and again, study in a new environment. Study in the park on a sunny day, or in your local library or school library
B - Get a good night's sleep and wake up at the same time each day
C - If you can't concentrate in total silence, have some calming music playing in the background while you study or read
D - Put your phone away! Turn off your phone or put it on silent while you study (I know it's a crazy thought...but try it out!)
E - Eat well. While studying or completing work, snack on healthy foods, and avoid sugary foods.

Organise your Google Drive

Organise your Digital Folders

Create a folder for each of your subjects in your Google Drive:

You can then add sub-folders within each subject folder to organise your work.
(Tip: add returned assignments to a digital folder, so you can review assignment work and keep a record of teacher feedback to improve your results in the future. Remember - you can scan for free in the Library. Ask the Library Team for help):

Organise your space

Organise your Equipment

  • Unpack your bag every afternoon and check your diary for the next day
  • Put your laptop on charge, make sure it is fully charged for the next day. Keep it clean.
  • Check your stationery equipment a couple of times per term (maybe add a reminder to your diary in Week 4 and Week 8) - do you have pens, pencils, erasers, glue, sharpeners, highlighters, etc?
  • Do you need new exercise books?
  • When you borrow a book from the Library, add the return due date in your diary

Organise your desk

Organise Your Desk

A Harvard University study found that students who completed work in an untidy environment with a cluttered desk took longer to complete tasks, were more likely to be distracted and had increased anxiety levels when studying for exams. The evidence is clear....clean your desk for success!
