Romantic tales. Ahhh...the course of true love (often never) runs smooth! 
        

Key Elements of Romance fiction:

Strongly character-driven narrative, focused on two individuals who love each other (but not always realise it) - An impediment is in the way of their true love's blossoming, sometimes in the form of another character, but sometimes situational - A resolution which often (but not always) results in a happy ever after ending


Language Features of Romance fiction:

Frequently written in third person / omniscient narration - Focus is on a few well described characters - Can be set in contemporary times or in the past
