Key Elements of Dystopian fiction:
Propaganda often used to control the citizens - Information, independent thought, and freedom are restricted - A figurehead or concept is worshipped by the citizens of the society - Citizens are perceived to be under constant surveillance and fear the outside world - Citizens conform to uniform expectations - Individuality and dissent are bad - The society is an illusion of a perfect utopian world.

Language Features of Dystopian Fiction:
Repetition of phrases /slogans - Can occupy a range of narrative perspectives and view points - Can use an anti-hero as the protagonist - Employs irony, criticism, foreshadowing - Allusion can include biblical, historical
