Emperor Constantine
Constantine the great, also known as Constantine I, was a Roman
emperor from AD 306 to 337. Born in Naissus, in Dacia Ripensis, the city
known as Niš (in Serbia). Constantine was acclaimed as emperor by the
army at Eboracum (modern-day York) after his father's death in AD 306.
He emerged victorious in the civil wars against Emperors Maxentius
and Licinius to become sole ruler of the eastern and western empires
by AD 324.
